VIDEO: The truck fire that caused the days-long shutdown of the I-15 was the first of its kind in the nation, according to highway agency CalTrans, which led to an unprecedented response for removal of hazardous materials.
July 26, California Highway Patrol officials said a tanker carrying “lithium iron” caught fire north of Baker on I-15, leading to a virtual shutdown of the freeway for almost two days.

VIDEO: In late August, the Council Bluffs Fire Department will be recognized in Washington at the Pentagon for their support of National Guard and Army Reserve members.
The award is the highest U.S. government honor for employers supporting current and former service members. The Council Bluffs Fire Department is one of 15 recipients of the 2024 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, being selected from over 17,000 nominations from employers across all 50 states.

When a 9-year-old Fayette County boy attempted to follow a TikTok trend, creating what is known as a Jolly Rancher Grape, he tripped while carrying a bowl of molten candy liquid and suffered severe burns.
“He tripped, and that’s when the boiling hot candy coated his whole hand and his four fingers except his thumb,” his mother, Christina Blackstone, said of her son, Caidan.

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Two drivers are dead after a high-speed crash left both vehicles engulfed in flames on Wednesday.
Just after midnight, Pierce County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to a two-vehicle collision at Canyon Road East and 160th Street. When authorities arrived at the scene both vehicles were completely covered in flames.

A home caught fire in Kennewick on Wednesday, causing neighbors to evacuate.
A press release from the Kennewick Fire Department says crews were called to the 2300 block of North Utah Street at 2:10 a.m. The 911 call center received reports that the home was on fire with its occupants possibly still inside.
