North Bay Fire and Emergency Services in Ontario, Canada Set to Order $1.6 Million Aerial

North Bay Fire and Emergency Services in Ontario, Canada, has done everything possible to keep its 22-year-old aerial in service, but the time has come to replace it, according to a report published by the North Bay Nugget.

According to the report, the fire department and the City Council are poised to spend $1,623,336 on a new tandem axle aerial through Safetek Emergency Vehicles to replace the old apparatus as councilors are expected to decide on the appropriation on Tuesday night (Aug. 9).

The old truck, which is no longer compliant with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards will be sold, according to the report, which pointed out the apparatus will be 23-years-old when the new one is delivered in 16 months.

As it will be built to meet the needs of North Bay, the new apparatus will improve safety and operations, according to the report.

Queen Creek (AZ) Fire and Medical Department’s new pumper has a unique feature specific to the new apparatus, according to a report published by Queen Creek Sun Times.

A hose reel located at the back of the truck is pre-connected for quick deployment for wildland/urban interface fires, according to the report.

The new engine, which will be in service at Fire Station 2, was prepared for use this past week and the old engine was moved to reserve status, according to the report.

Wears Valley (TN) Gifted a Fire Truck to Replace One Lost in Wildland Fire

The Wears Valley (TN) Fire Department was given a fire truck to replace one lost in a wildfire last year, according to a report published by WVLT News 8.

The report said the truck was delivered from the Community Fire Department in Belmont, NC, on Friday. Firefighters in Belmont had promised to donate the 1999 American LaFrance to Wears Valley when their new truck was delivered and they made good on the promise, the report said.

The apparatus has a 1,000-gallon tank and a 1,500-gpm pump, the report said.

Three-alarm fire hits Longview home

An early morning house fire on Saturday required three additional calls for backup, north of Mint Valley Elementary School in Longview. A pet cat died, but no people were injured, reports the Longview Fire Department, after firefighters battled a blaze at 11 Curtis Lane for about an hour before the fire was considered under control.

Police in Wisconsin Stop Suspicious Fire Truck With Band on Top

The drive of a vintage fire truck got confused about the end of a parade route in Illinois and ended up driving across stateliness into Wisconsin with members of a band on top, according to a report published by Fox6 Now.

The report said members of the band who had just performed in the parade could not get the driver of the truck’s attention as after he missed the turn for the end of the parade and ended up heading north on State Highway Route 31. The truck ended up in Pleasant Prairie (WI) where it was stopped by police after motorists reported the unusual activity.

The people on the truck said they were members of the Sinful Saints Band from Chrystal Lake (IL), according to the report who said all members of the band were taken to the police station and given refreshments while awaiting alternative transportation from the parade vehicle.

The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital for observations of a medical condition, according to the report.

In a Facebook post, the Pleasant Prairie Police said alcohol was not a factor in the incident.
