One man has died after being swept into the Spokane River near Downriver Drive and Pettet Drive, according to the Spokane Fire Department (SFD).
SFD told KHQ that two men were hanging out by the river, when one of them got in and was swept away.
First responders found him, pulled him out of the water and tried to revive him for about half an hour, but he didn't survive.

Smells of black coffee and bacon filled the West Thurston Fire Station in Rochester on Tuesday morning. The lights were off and the blinds were drawn low in an effort to keep the station cool before the sweltering heat would become inescapable later in the day.
Though it was breakfast time for his coworkers, firefighter Chris White was just getting off shift.

Firefighters in Entiat are offering to cool off members of the public with their fire hoses Thursday, in what's forecast to be the hottest day of the year so far at 110 degrees.
Chelan County Fire District 8 says it'll be testing the deck guns on its fire engines at the Entiat City Park, as long as it's not fighting a actual fire.

The City of Vancouver has begun cleaning up homeless camps and ordering residents to move out in areas that are considered at risk for wildfires. It's the first round of enforcement under a new city ordinance aimed at ending homeless camping in public places that could quickly burn.
"This is quite dangerous during fire season," said Jamie Spinelli, Vancouver’s homeless response coordinator.

So far, fire season is the tamest it’s been in the Evergreen State since before 2017.
Fires this year in the state of Washington burned 6,688 acres as of July 25. That’s 12,551 acres less than 2020, the next lowest in the past six years. By this time last year, over 126 thousand acres had burned on 17 separate large wildfires.
