Bob Shank’s mother asked him to help run Shank’s Tavern in Marietta in 1968, which got him involved in the family business and Lancaster County’s oldest tavern established in 1814. Four years later in 1972, Shank had to deal with the aftermath of the destruction wrought by Tropical Storm Agnes. Shank recalled in detail what the tavern looked like in the wake of the storm.

Public safety officials want to remind Bellingham residents and visitors that all consumer fireworks are prohibited in the City of Bellingham. This includes fountains, sparklers, smokeballs, and ground-spinning fireworks commonly referred to as “safe and sane” fireworks in addition to rockets, aerial missiles, roman candles and other projectile fireworks.

This upcoming weekend we're expected to see some 90 degree weather, but officials are waving the red flag, warning people as they get ready to dive in about the lurking dangers of swimming in rivers.
