Five people injured, several families displaced during apartment fire in Kent

VIDEO: Five people were recovering in the hospital with minor injuries after an apartment fire sparked overnight in Kent. Puget Sound Fire said the call came in around 1:00 a.m. for a fire at the Atrium on James Street apartments. Fire Division Chief Pat Pawlak said when firefighters arrived the fire had spread from the center of the first floor to the third.

14-year-old loses hand while playing with fireworks in Federal Way

A teen lost his hand while reportedly playing with fireworks on Monday afternoon, according to South King Fire. The 14-year-old boy was near the basketball court behind Saghalie Middle School when the incident happened. Crews responded to the call around 4:30 p.m. In addition to losing his left hand, the teen also suffered multiple injuries to his right hand.

Fire destroys several businesses in Lynnwood

Crews battled a large commercial fire for hours that destroyed several businesses in Lynnwood overnight. There was also a significant power outage caused by the fire, according to Lynnwood police. The fire in the 19100 block of Highway 99 broke out before midnight Monday. The businesses that caught fire include Speedy Signs, an auto glass shop and Shannon Towing.

Pasco Fire responds to a brush fire

The Pasco Fire Department is working to stop the progression of a brush fire that started at the intersection of E Lewis Street and Heritage Boulevard from going into a wrecking yard. The fire started around 2 p.m. Monday. According to Deputy Fire Chief with the Pasco Fire Department Ed Dunbar, the fire started in the brush on the intersection and caught some lumber near it on fire.
