The City of Batavia (NY) Fire Department is in line to get a $700,000 engine after the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development offered funding for the apparatus, according to a report published by The Batavian.
The city council approved the proposed funding of a $630,000 loan, a grant of $50,000 and $20,000 to be taken from the department’s reserves at a meeting on Monday night, according to the report.
A 20-year-old apparatus will be replaced once the new pumper has been built, the report states, adding that the new rig will be a 2023 custom rescue-style pumper with a custom cab, a 1,500-gallon pump and a 750-gallon tank, LED warning and scene lighting, and to be constructed of stainless steel or aluminum.
