Nancy Pelosi Visits Baltimore (MD) Fire Boat Named For Her Father

U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited the Fire Museum of Maryland Monday to witness the fireboat named for her father get its new mission, reports WBALTV.

The the diesel powered fireboat Mayor Thomas D’Alesandro, Jr., was launched in 1956 and served the city until 2015. It was nearly scrapped, however, until the Fire Museum of Maryland in Lutherville gave ‘The Tommy’ its new home, welcoming visitors to the museum.

CT Fire Department Donates Apparatus to Two TN Volunteer Departments

Two volunteer fire departments in Claiborne County (TN) are receiving a donated fire truck gratis from their counterpart in Bloomfield (CT), reports wate.com. However, both apparatus still need to be outfitted with equipment.

It all started when North Tazewell (TN) fire officials reached out to a Facebook group and received a call from a Bloomfield fire official, according to the report. The official relayed that the department didn’t have a tanker but did have a pair of trucks.

Word got around TN that there was another truck available, and the South Claiborne Volunteer Fire Department said they could use it.

Both trucks now reside in their new homes but equipping them will be another $5,000-$10,000 apiece, officials say. Each station relies on grants and donations for truck maintenance.

Albany (GA) Fire Department Christens Tanker

On Monday, the Albany Fire Department dedicated its new tanker, which can carry 3,000 gallons of water.

The department used to have a tanker years ago, and crews are excited to have one again.

Bullets Hit Oxnard (CA) Fire Department Station 3

Oxnard Fire Department Station 3 was hit by gunfire early Sunday morning. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

“Early Sunday morning around 1:22 AM firefighters were woken up to gun shots and stray bullets hitting Fire Station 3,” an Instagram post reads.

“In these photos you see where the stray bullets struck the station right above where a firefighter was sleeping.

“Oxnard Police is investigating the incident as they found at least 12 other bullet casings in another reported area. Luckily no one from Oxnard Fire was injured.”
