Collinsville (AL) Fire Truck Hit at Scene of Accident

In what seems to be a recurring theme lately, a vehicle rear-ended a parked Collinsville fire truck early Saturday morning.

The apparatus was blocking a lane of traffic for an earlier accident. No first responders were injured, but the other driver was airlifted for the treatment.

The accident is under investigation.

Houston (TX) Fire Department Apparatus Hit

Houston officials say an alleged drunk driver was arrested after he crashed into a fire truck early Saturday morning, reports news4sanantonio.com.

Around 12:30 a.m., the Houston Fire Department was blocking lanes on the West Loop after a separate accident. It was then that the driver slammed into the side of the apparatus, the report says.

No injuries were reported.

Indianapolis (IN) Fire Department Apparatus Hit

Officials say an Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD) apparatus was damaged early Monday after crews responded to an unresponsive driver on the near east side.

Just before 3 a.m., reports fox59, first responders were sent to the intersection of Brookside Avenue and Commerce Drive for an unconscious person in a vehicle.

An IFD official knocked on the window to wake up the driver, who woke up and immediately went forward into a fire truck, the report says.

The truck had minor damage. No more details are available.

Spokane Valley Fire: House fire may have been started by spontaneous combustion of oily rags

A fire broke out Tuesday morning at a house on the 11000 block of E. Frederick Avenue in Spokane Valley. The flames burned through a car and garage but no one has been reported injured. The Spokane Valley Fire Department (SVFD) have identified a possible cause for the house fire that displaced five people Tuesday morning, spontaneous combustion.

Apparatus Crash Leaves Pittsburgh (PA) Fire Chief with Minor Injuries

Pittsburgh Fire Chief Darryl Jones suffered minor injuries when his SUV was involved in an accident with another vehicle while responding to a fire in the Edgebrook neighborhood.

Jones was taken to the hospital reporting soreness in his shoulder after the accident, which occurred at the intersection of Brookline Boulevard and Whited Street. Jones’ was running lights and siren responding to the call. No one else was transported to the hospital in the crash, though the driver of the other vehicle did have a cut to his head.

The fire was at a home in the 900 block of Berkshire Avenue. A police officer suffered some smoke inhalation in the incident.

That fire started around 5 p.m. Friday and firefighting was slowed when ammunition in the home began exploding. The two occupants of the house made it out safely.
