Fire Foundation in Arizona supplies free health and wellness resources for firefighters

VIDEO: KGUN 9 spotlights a different local non-profit on the first Wednesday of every month. With Wildfires so prevalent in our region, this month we're focusing on the Greater Tucson Fire Foundation. It's the latest installment of The Giving Project—Doing Well, by Doing Good. The Foundation exists to support the needs of the firefighting community, providing firefighters and their families with health and wellness services.

First responders in Ohio training for faster responses to active shootings

The FOX 8 I-Team has found more and more local first responders training for a new way to get medical help more quickly to victims of a gunman on a rampage. The plan revolves around sending ambulance crews into scenes right behind the first officers. While the officers search for the gunman, the paramedics search for victims.

Huge Historic Fire Boat Will Spray Water Cannons in the Air in Boston Harbor

Now that summer has (unofficially) arrived, the calendar of cool stuff to do outdoors in Boston is suddenly packed. That is certainly the case on the Harbor, where party boat and island ferry season is now in full force, the ICA Watershed is open, and a cliff diving competition in the Seaport is just around the corner.

Port Angeles Fire Chief Ken Dubuc retires

Port Angeles Fire Chief Ken Dubuc retired Tuesday after joining the department in 2001 and serving as Chief since 2012. City staff and public safety personnel gathered Tuesday at Port Angeles Fire Dept. Station 11 to say goodbye and to thank him for his service. With over 44 years of public safety service, Chief Dubuc has a long resume in the firefighting business.

National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) members can enter to win a personalized Cairns® XF1 Fire Helmet, courtesy of MSA Safety. The jet-style design of the helmet reduces snag hazards, provides a personalized fit, and houses its own integrated light module, and the soft goods are removeable, washable, and replaceable.

This is the second of three opportunities to win an XF1 helmet in 2022. One recipient will be randomly selected after each entry period. Applicants must be an active U.S. volunteer firefighter and a member of the NVFC. Not a member? Learn about member benefits and join at www.nvfc.org/join.

The deadline to enter is June 30; the winner will be announced in July.
