FDNY Marine 1 Bravo Hit by Charter Boat, Belgian Firefighter Killed

A Belgian firefighter was killed late Friday as the FDNY fireboat he was riding on was hit by another vessel, reports the Daily News. His identity has not yet been released.

Marine 1 Bravo was operating in the East River around 10 p.m. Friday when a charter boat collided with it, the report says. The visiting firefighter was seriously injured and later died at Bellevue Hospital.

Three civilians and an FDNY crew member were also rushed to Bellevue with non-life-threatening injuries, officials say. The 33-foot Marine 1 Bravo was damaged and taken out of service. It isn’t clear why the Belgian was onboard or who authorized the ride.

Fire officials and the U.S. Coast Guard are investigating.

Drunk Driver Hits Modesto (CA) Engine 11

A vehicle driven by an alleged drunk driver collided with Modesto Fire Department Engine 11 late Friday, reports The Modesto Bee.

Minor damage and no injuries were reported, and Lisa Marie Sanchez was cited and released on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI, officials say.

Officials add that the engine had its lights and sirens activated and was headed south on Tully Road when it slowed to make a left onto Palmilla Drive.

Sanchez was headed north on Tully and didn’t have her headlights on. The head-on collision was reported at 11:59 p.m., the report says.

Details of Sanchez’ age, city of residence, and vehicle were not available.

Come on Out for Roswell (GA) Fire Department’s Truck 21 Push-In Ceremony

The Roswell Fire Department has invited you to help celebrate its new Truck 21!

The push-in ceremony will take place Saturday at 10 a.m. at Station 21, located at 1002 Alpharetta St. It’ll see Truck 21 be placed into service.

“Bring your family and friends to this ceremonial event as we push the new Truck 21 into the station and place it in service,” a Facebook event reads. “Immediately following the ceremony, spectators are encouraged to tour the historic Station 21 and it’s museum, visit with the firefighters, and check out all the trucks that are housed inside! Parking for the event will be at the lot adjacent to Station 21 and at Roswell City Hall.”

Following the ceremony, guests are welcome to tour the station and its museum, visit with crew members, and see up close the entire fleet during an open house.

Petzl America welcomes new 2022 training organizations to PTP Network

Petzl’s Professional Division welcomes seven additional training organizations to the Petzl Technical Partner Program in the US and Canadian markets. The Petzl Technical Partner (PTP) Program formalizes close-working relationships with experts in vertical environments that demonstrate a thorough understanding of their industry, contribute to the development of industry best practices, and integrate Petzl products and solutions into their teaching curriculum.

The PTP Program was launched in the US and Canada in early 2020 with a vision of developing a comprehensive network of training companies to which Petzl may refer business. John Pieper, Managing Director of Petzl’s Professional Division explains, “Petzl is focused on designing and manufacturing the most innovative and highest quality personal protective equipment for working at-height. We do not have the depth of in-field and daily-use expertise of the many training companies that use our products.” Petzl’s vision is to partner with the most respected training companies to support their educational efforts, and to deepen our understanding of these industries and their use of our PPE.
