VIDEO: A Yuba County nonprofit organization is using a creative approach in an effort to decrease the risk of wildfires in the foothills that could be sparked by dragging tow chains. The unique solution comes from repurposing a piece of unusable fire equipment.
“A lot of people don’t even know that a dragging chain can cause a fire,” said Smartsville Fire Protection District Captain Glen Ford.

A fire broke out near Mabton, during the evening of Wednesday June 26.
Scan reports suggest a spark from an electricity transformer ignited the blaze on State Route 22 near the Yakima River.
Multiple stations responded, with West Benton Fire aid requested and bulldozers helping to create a fire wall.

In partnership with the Yakima County Fire Chiefs Association, the Yakima County Fire Marshal has expanded the county-wide burn ban for unincorporated Yakima County This change takes effect Monday, July 1, 2024, to include bonfires. The previous ban included only yard waste.
In addition, burning debris or processed lumber is not allowed.

The firefighters seen climbing the light towers of Edgar Brown Stadium were NOT responding to an emergency!
The quiet beauty near Edgar Brown Stadium was interrupted yesterday when nearby residents spotted Pasco Fire Department vehicles parked near the light towers and firefighters ascending them. While initially it raised eyebrows, people soon realized it was not an emergency but a planned training session.

PHOTOS: More than 50 personnel responded to a massive fire in the early hours of Thursday morning that resulted in explosions at a Salt Lake City recycling plant.
Just after 12:30 a.m., firefighters were alerted to the area of 3040 W. 900 S. Upon arrival, the blaze was quickly upgraded to a three-alarm fire, sending 70 firefighters, seven engines and five trucks rushing to the scene.
