Graham Fire & Rescue eyes ways to protect life-saving gear after theft from fire engine

Thieves made off this week with thousands of dollars worth of life-saving firefighting equipment taken right off of a parked fire engine in Graham and the city's Fire & Rescue Department is working to find ways to protect its gear. The thefts have become more and more common across Western Washington in recent months.

Kennewick Fire offers tips for burning tumbleweeds after fire sparks near homes

The Kennewick Fire Department (KFD) and the Benton County Fire District #1 responded to a “natural cover fire” at 3:34 p.m. March 24th at 1119 W. 53rd, according to a recent KFD press release. Fire crews said they saw high flames and a large column of smoke when they approached the scene. KFD said that the Incident Commander called in additional resources because the fire was a potential threat to nearby homes.

Groves (TX) Fire Department to Host Station Grand Opening Saturday

The Groves Fire Department Saturday at 11 a.m. will be hosting the hose uncoupling and grand opening of its new station, located at 5911 W Washington.

Chick-Fil-A refreshments will be served, guided tours will be provided by crews, and activities for children will be available.

The department was in dire need of an upgrade, as the new facility’s predecessor was built in the 1950s.

Cowlitz Tribe donates engine to Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue as department battles delayed responses

The Cowlitz Indian Tribe donated a fire engine last week amid Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue’s call for additional funds for more vehicles and staff to lower response times. The fire department, which serves the area surrounding the tribe’s reservation and casino in Ridgefield, says the board is considering adding a levy to the August ballot to add two new ambulances and dozens of staff members to combat rising response times.
