Chief Wayne Greer of the East Burke Fire Brigade bought a new fire truck for the department and donated it for a dollar to honor his parents.
Henry and Virginia Greer were both founding members of the department, and dedicated their lives to serving the fire department. They instilled the same pride of service into their children, who have also served key roles on the department, the department said in a Facebook post.
The gift is a 1997 E-One Hurricane with a 750-gallon tank and a 1,750-GPM Hale Pump.
Once in service, Rescue 4 will be stationed in East Burke Village and will respond first due to all motor vehicle accidents, vehicle fires, carbon monoxide or propane emergencies, Mutual Aid RIT, and will also respond to Kingdom Trails calls, for additional manpower and tools.
Additionally it will serve as second due engine to structure fires in town.
