PHOTOS: Where were you on the night of March 25, 1962?
If you were in the city of Manitowoc on that cold spring morning, you most likely remember what Fire Chief James Danielson called “The biggest and most spectacular fire ever in Manitowoc.”
It was just around midnight when a fireman looked out a window of the old Franklin Street station and saw flames coming from Elevator B, formerly owned by the Northern Grain Company, which was four blocks away.

Being a firefighter requires a certain amount of mental and physical strength. Let’s face it: They don’t put these guys and gals on calendars for no reason.
But it’s a part of the job Hygiene firefighter Dylan Miraglia takes more seriously than some.
“It’s a physical job, it’s a blue-collar job,” Miraglia said.

Whatcom County Fire District 7 has announced that Assistant Fire Chief Dean Crosswhite died Wednesday after a battle with renal cell carcinoma.
This is the second line of duty death in Whatcom County Fire District 7's 105-year history.
According to the fire district, Chief Crosswhite spent 28 years in the fire service, joining Whatcom County District 7 in 1995.

VIDEO: Fire crews have controlled Thursday morning's fire in downtown Friday Harbor on San Juan Island, now they are trying to salvage what they can to find out what caused the fire.
According to the Public Information Officer, six structures were damaged-- three of deemed a total loss. Multiple businesses nearby remain closed due to smoke damage.

Multiple agencies responded to a residential fire on Irene Avenue in Benton City around 3:30 p.m. on April 7.
Upon arrival, the single-family home was fully on fire. The first unit on scene sounded a second alarm.
In total, seven engines and more than 20 firefighters responded to the scene. Benton County Fire District 2, Benton County Fire District 4 and Richland Fire Department all responded.
