They're simple photos, but the messages are hugely important.

Missouri fire department crew comments on recent mine shaft rescue

VIDEO: Emergency responders with the Kansas City Fire Department helped rescue two people from an abandoned mine shaft early Sunday morning. Authorities say they got the victims out in about 30 minutes. “The cave was pitch black,” KCFD Fire Captain Chris Vandermillion said. “We were fortunate to have lights, ropes and that helped in finding them.

Firefighters in one Florida county rally for new contract, better starting pay

VIDEO: Brush fire ignites several semi-trucks, damages utility poles in south Seattle

PHOTOS: Several semi-trucks, utility poles and at least one RV were involved in a large fire in Seattle’s Georgetown neighborhood Tuesday afternoon. The fire near East Marginal Way South and 1st Avenue South at the north end of the 1st Avenue Bridge closed all lanes of northbound State Route 99 due to the fire.
