PHOTOS: The playground at Phantom Lake Elementary School in Bellevue burned down Saturday night, almost exactly a year after it was destroyed in a firework-related fire.
Back on July 9, 2023, Phantom Lake Elementary's playground burned to the ground in a string of fires across Bellevue caused by fireworks.

With the weather heating up in the next week, it’s not a question of “if,” but rather a question of “when” wildfires will happen across the Inland Northwest.
Spokane County Fire District 3 Fire Chief Cody Rohobarch says that warmer weather combined with wind leads to wildfires.
“We're used to experiencing a lot of wind, and then on top of that, you find the driest timber habitat type in eastern Washington,” said Rohobarch.

VIDEO/PHOTO: Fire tore through a vacant commercial building in Seattle's Eastlake neighborhood early Friday morning.
The Seattle Fire Department was called to the scene shortly before 1 a.m. on July 5. Calls made to the Fire Alarm Center at 12:53 a.m. reported seeing smoke and flames erupting from the structure located on the 2900 block of Eastlake Ave.

VIDEO: State firefighting resources have now been mobilized to fight the Thorp Road Fire.
Deputy Fire Chief Ray Lamoureux with Yakima County Fire District 4 requested the mobilization and WSP Chief John Batiste mobilized state resources at 7 a.m. on July 5.
The Thorp Road Fire is currently burning about 700 acres, according to the Washington State Fire Marshal's Office.

Firefighters have contained a fast-moving fire that left someone hurt near Peoria Thursday morning. Several pets are also missing.
According to Rural Metro firefighters, the blaze started around 9:30 a.m. as a barbecue fire outside spread to the home near 88th Avenue and Williams Road. The house is located on an unincorporated county island surrounded by the City of Peoria.
