Fire guts downtown Kennewick building; one person taken to hospital

A large fire badly damaged the Cascade building in downtown Kennewick on Friday morning. The fire started shortly after 5:30 AM in the area of Kennewick Avenue and Cascade. The fire is located near Foodies Restaurant in the 'Cascade' building. It is a two-story structure with commercial space on the bottom floor.

Follow Up: Checkbook of man killed in Tacoma fire found in car of suspected serial arsonist

The Elliotts have lived on Rosemount Way for over five decades in Tacoma. It’s a time that Dan Elliott looks back on fondly. But on December 31, Dan’s childhood home burned down, killing his father James, who died of asphyxiation due to smoke inhalation. His death was ruled an accident by the Pierce County Medical Examiners office.

Spokane Firefighters: Driver hurt when they stopped to help during an apartment fire

The Spokane Fire Department says a person driving by an apartment fire was hurt when they stopped the help somebody inside. Firefighters say they got a call about the fire at 4:23 p.m. Thursday. When crews got to the scene they found that a ground-level apartment was on fire. They were able to quickly get the fire under control and look for people inside.

Lincoln County (GA) Emergency Services Department Purchases New Engine, Ambulance

A $100,000 grant and a $264,000 loan from the USDA has helped the Lincoln County (GA) Emergency Services Department purchase a new ambulance and fire truck, reports wjbf.com.

The engine replaced a 20-year-old apparatus and comes with updated equipment and safety enhancements, the report says.

Update: Coroner identifies victim killed in Roslyn explosion, house fire

After a lengthy examination, the Kittitas County’s coroner has identified the person killed after an explosion set their house on fire in the early morning hours of Jan. 13. Kittitas County Coroner Nik Henderson says the body of the victim needed additional time for examination due to the damage it sustained during the blaze.
