‘Saddened and disheartened’: In 2021, COVID a factor for all Wisconsin firefighter line-of-duty deaths

VIDEO: Across Wisconsin, firefighters have been particularly susceptible to dying of COVID-19–even moreso than their law enforcement first responder counterparts. In 2021, all six of Wisconsin’s line of duty deaths for firefighters and emergency medical service personnel were a result of COVID-19 complications, according to new data released to News 3 Now.

5 Suspicious Dumpster Fires Investigated in Pasco February 1st

It's one thing to have an occasional dumpster fire, especially near restaurants or fast-food venues. Or perhaps it's due to a homeless person, especially in winter. That's the word being used to describe a rash of dumpster fires that Pasco Fire Crews were dealing with early Tuesday morning (Feb 1st.).

Follow Up: Acme Fire Station seeking help recovering thousands in stolen equipment

A Whatcom County Fire Station is asking for the public’s help in recovering thousands of dollars in stolen equipment. In a video posted to their Facebook page, Fire District 16 said that over $18,000 in equipment was taken from Station 86 in Acme over the weekend. A station spokesperson said the theft was discovered as crews were preparing to head out to a car accident.

Horry County (SC) Fire Station on Track to Open by Summer

The new $2.3 million fire station in Horry County, SC, is expected to be open by Summer despite some material shortages that have caused delays, according to a report published by WMBFNEWS.

The television station reported that Horry County Fire Rescue Station 13 is state-of-the-art and designed to allow growth of the community.

Ground was broken on the new fire station in February 2020 and, when finished, it will feature 8,000 feet of space and three drive-through bays, according to the report.

The new station, located on Highway 9, will be home to volunteer and career firefighters, according to the television station.

CAL FIRE Engine Overturns in Crash with Suspected Drunk Driver

The California Highway Patrol suspects alcohol was a factor in a crash involving a CAL FIRE engine Monday night.

The accident happened in Madera County around 10 on Road 36 and Avenue 33. Police say a car ran through a stop sign and struck the fire engine, causing the engine to overturn.

The fire engine was not responding to a call at the time and firefighters were not seriously injured. The driver of the car was taken to the hospital.

Police said the car matched the description of a vehicle that had already been reported to them as operating erratically. They suspect the driver of the car was under the influence of alcohol.
