Manteca (CA) Council to Vote on $1.7M Tractor-Drawn Aerial

Manteca (CA) City Council is being asked to authorize Tuesday the purchase of a new $1.7 million Pierce tractor-drawn aerial.

The tiller truck, from Golden State Fire Apparatus, costs $1,707,772.01, and if council fails to lock in the price, it will continue to rise.

The apparatus could take upwards of 18 months to deliver.

The department’s current aerial is a 2008 purchased for about $1 million, and it’s often in the shop for repairs.

Montebello (CA) Fire Department Donating Two Apparatus to Jalisco (Mexico) Fire Department

The Montebello (CA) Fire Department is donating two engines to the Bomberos Tlajomulco De Zuniga, Jalisco (Mexico), reports bclosangeles.com.

Officials say they were honored and happy to help, and that the apparatus will be used for emergency calls and training for the Bomberos.

Department officials say the act of kindness is not random; in fact, it’s part of a tradition. The department as been donating equipment, apparatus, and supplies to fire departments in Mexico for more than 50 years.

It’s a tradition those same officials hope to continue.

Brush fire spreads to West Richland property, igniting carport and scorching grass

An unexpected brush fire spread to a residential property in West Richland on Monday morning, spelling trouble for the property owner whose carport storing antique vehicles caught on fire. According to a social media notice from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and firefighters responded to the 82000-block of N Weidle Rd sometime on the morning of January 31, 2021.

Santa Barbara County (CA) Fire Department Takes Delivery of Six Engines

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department announced the delivery of six new Type 1 fire engines. The new engines will provide updated technology advancements, safety systems and service to the citizens of Santa Barbara County.

The engines have been tailored to meet the specific needs of the Santa Barbara County Fire Department. Crews will receive specialized training on the new engines, after which the engines will be placed in service.

This rollout continues our commitment to the modernization of the Santa Barbara County Fire Department firefighting fleet.

Stations receiving new engines include Fire Station 12 (5330 Calle Real, Goleta), Station 13 (4570 Hollister Ave, Santa Barbara), Station 21 (335 Union Ave, Orcutt), Station 26 (1596 Tiffany Park Ct, Orcutt), Station 27 (41 Newsome St, New Cuyama) and Station 32 (906 Airport Rd, Santa Ynez).

KY Fire Departments Receive Three Apparatus, Equipment Via NY Organization

The Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund over the weekend donated three fire trucks and three trailers full of equipment and gear to three Eastern KY fire departments.

Companies receiving the apparatus are the Lee County Volunteer Fire Department, the Vincent Volunteer Fire Department, and the Sandy Hook Fire Department, reports wtvq.com.

The equipment includes air tanks, turnout coats, helmets, and more, and officials say it will benefit the departments for years to come.

The organization is in New York and donates apparatus and equipment to in-need departments, especially in rural areas; Farrell was a firefighter who lost his life on 9/11, the report says.

All donations were delivered to the Lee County Volunteer Fire Department in Beattyville.
