‘I Knew I Was Dead!’ Thermal Imaging Saves Firefighter in Sevier County (TN) Fire

Bowling Green officials have health and safety concerns about the East Court Street fire station that could lead to replacing it with a new facility in a different location, reports wtol.com.

The layout of the station, built in 1984, is not safe nor efficient for firefighters, as the living quarters are on the second floor. That creates a problem with apparatus fumes as well as leaving for calls, the report says.

Its location is another bone of contention, as officials feel it’s not optimal for response times.

There are currently no specific plans for a new station nor any estimates on the cost for such a project, according to the report.

Arvada (CO) Fire Protection District Celebrates Station 3

The Arvada Fire Protection District’s Station 3 is complete. To celebrate, the company held a public open house on Saturday.

“What a memorable day!” Arvada Fire writes on Facebook. “It’s been incredible to see our vision materialize of a station that embraces modern features and safety improvements, honors fire service traditions, and meets the current and future needs of both our firefighters and community. Yet, the most special part of today was how many people we were able to share this experience with and the outpouring of excitement from the community!

“For the beautiful new Station 3 on 7300 Kipling Street, there are countless people to thank…

“Firstly, the construction of this station simply wasn’t possible without the trust, support, and funding from the public. We’re always proud to serve you and be good stewards of your tax dollars.

“For making our vision come to life, thank you to Golden Triangle Construction and Allred & Associates Architects. They’ve made something generations of firefighters will be proud to call home.

“For their commitment and attention to detail, thank you to our internal project committee of Chief Piper, Deputy Chief Lock, Division Chief Ferry, Captain Kulp, Captain Hill, and Ken Rubenking.

“For donating food for the ceremony free of charge, a sincere thank you to Arvada Great Harvest Bread Co.! Starbucks and Einstein Bros. Bagles also donated coffee and bagels.”
