Two St. John’s Regional (Canada) Fire Department Firefighters Injured in Apparatus Crash

Two St. John’s Regional Fire Department firefighters were injured after their rescue apparatus went off the road, reports Saltwire.

The accident, which also cracked a utility pole, happened around 6:45 p.m. on Beaumont Hamel Way as the department was responding to a vehicle crash, the report says.

Freezing rain had been falling for a few hours prior, so the unsalted roads were slippery—as evidenced by the original accident being a car that skidded off the road in the same area, according to the report.

After their crash, the injured firefighters contacted the trailing apparatus and warned them not to travel down the hill; they then trekked to a waiting ambulance atop the hill, the report notes, and were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

There’s no word as to the extent of the original crash which brought the firefighters.
