East Tennessee firefighter creates life-saving invention

In 2010, an East Tennessee firefighter by the name of Michael Robinson saw first-hand how hot a burning building can be when he almost watched his partner die from overheating. “We didn’t have anything to help us cool off. We had some lukewarm bottles of water, a cold towel around his neck and it could have turned out a lot different but we saved him,” said Robinson.

Pandemic Outlook in U.S. Drastically Improved

King County launches pilot program aimed at curbing opioid overdoses

In the area Eastside Fire & Rescue serves, there have been 67 fatal overdoses since January 2020. Battalion Chief Greg Garat has been there to respond to the 911 calls. "With the fentanyl that's getting mixed into the drugs, you never know what you're going to get," Garat said. At a Friday news conference about crime in downtown Seattle, Frank Tarentino III, special agent in charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration Seattle Field Division, said drugs are fueling the problem.

1 person killed in Everett motorhome fire

One person died after a motorhome caught fire early Monday morning in north Everett. Dispatchers received several 911 calls reporting the fire just after 1:00 a.m. Callers said there may be a person trapped inside. When crews arrived, flames were shooting out of the motorhome which was parked in an alley near 35th St.

House fire kills Chief Sealth International High School educator/coach

The Chief Sealth International High School community is mourning an educator who also served as the school’s tennis coach. 37-year-old Steadman Mathis died after an early-morning fire at his home in White Center on Sunday. Firefighters responded to the house in the 400 block of SW 108th [map] around 3:45 am on Sunday (March 6th).
