With a big winter storm headed our way, and temperatures set to plunge once again, one of Chicago’s favorite winter traditions is well underway. The Chicago Fire Department’s icebreaking boat made its way down the Chicago River Tuesday afternoon, tearing through thick sheets of ice. It’s one of the most spectacular sights Chicago has to offer.

Los Angeles, Cincinnati fire departments agree to friendly Super Bowl bet

The Los Angeles and Cincinnati fire departments have made a friendly wager on Super Bowl LVI. LA Fire Chief Ralph Terrazas tweeted a photo of a Matthew Stafford Rams jersey and a Rams hat along with a message saying the losing team's department will raise the winning team's flag at a station and on an engine and the fire chief will wear a jersey along with a congratulations message that gets posted to social media.

Fire and Ice: See a frozen Massachusetts firefighter after battling brutal conditions

PHOTO: Firefighters in Fall River are being recognized for their extraordinary work at a Saturday house fire, while facing brutal weather conditions. ‘Saddened and disheartened’: In 2021, COVID a factor for all Wisconsin firefighter line-of-duty deaths

VIDEO: Across Wisconsin, firefighters have been particularly susceptible to dying of COVID-19–even moreso than their law enforcement first responder counterparts.
