Man critically injured in Spanaway mobile home fire

A man is in critical condition but two others escaped unharmed after fire destroyed a mobile home early Tuesday in Spanaway, officials said. Firefighters and medics responded to the scene, in the 22600 block of 53rd Avenue Court East in Spanaway, at about 4:30 a.m. after receiving reports of flames and smoke coming from the home.

1 dead after shooting, fire at Bellevue apartment complex

One person died after a shooting and fire at a Bellevue apartment complex early Tuesday morning. Officers were called around 2:15 a.m. to the Meydenbauer Apartments after several reports of shots fired. When officers arrived, they noticed smoke coming from one of the apartments. Bellevue police say officers dragged one man out of the apartment, but he did not survive.

Worker killed as trench caves in during sewer replacement in Seattle

A construction worker was killed Tuesday when a trench gave way as he was working in it, Seattle fire officials said. Firefighters and medics responded to the scene, at 36th Avenue and SW Hanford Street, at about 10:45 a.m. after receiving reports of a person trapped face-down in a trench. Fire crews worked quickly to free the man, but he died before he could be rescued.
