Lynden reopens fire station, now enlarged

While few attended the Dec. 3 mid-afternoon ceremony to reopen the enlarged Lynden Fire Station, Mayor Scott Korthuis spoke, firefighters showed off the new pole, and tours were given of the new space. The station, at 215 Fourth St. across from the Lynden Library, has undergone the remodel since January 2021.

Wheels in Motion for New Wrightstown (WI) Fire Station

Trustees recently approved purchasing $102,000 worth of land for a new fire station on the village of Wrightstown’s (WI) west side, reports wrightstownspirit.com.

The village was offered the property for $40,000 per acre, and the funds will be taken from the 2021 General Fund Economic Development/Marketing Expense budget, the report says.

There’s no specific timetable for construction, officials say.

Satellite (FL) Fire Department’s 40th Annual Twilight Santa Truck Underway

The Satellite (FL) Fire Department’s 40th annual Twilight Santa Truck is officially underway.

The festivities got going on Monday and will continue through Saturday.

Full dates can be seen below:

Twilight Santa Truck (all dates 6 – 9 p.m.)
   Monday, December 6: Jackson Ave south to Park Ave – East of S Patrick Drive
   Tuesday, December 7: Park Ave south to Cinnamon Drive
   Wednesday, December 8: West side of S Patrick Drive, including Lansing Island
   Thursday, December 9: Cassia Blvd south to DeSoto Parkway
   Friday, December 10: DeSoto Parkway south to City line
   Saturday, December 11: Pelican Coast and the SB portion of Tortoise Island

Bozeman (MT) Capital Project Plan Includes $3.8M Fire Station

Bozeman’s (MT) proposed capital project spending plan includes the construction of a new fire station, reports bozemandailychronicle.com.

The plan lays out which projects Bozeman plans to fund for the next several years; city officials are reviewing the proposed plan for fiscal years 2023-2027 and will vote at their meeting next week, the report says.

The proposal includes budgeting $3.8 million for a fourth fire station for FY 2025, which officials say is necessary due to growth. It proposes budgeting $1.5 million to purchase land in the next FY, and $3.8 million for the building and equipment in FY 2025, the report says.

City officials say a voter-approved general fund bond would be needed to be pay for the facility, while a separate levy would need to be approved for staffing and operation costs.

The plan also calls to replace an engine for $1.4 million in the next FY, with another replacement engine budgeted for $1.6 million in FY 2027, the report says.

Villages (FL) Fire Rescue Set to Purchase $766k E-ONE Cyclone

The Villages (FL) Fire Rescue is set to purchase an E-ONE 2022 Cyclone engine/pumper for $766,703, reports villages-news.com.

The apparatus will replace a 2003 E-ONE engine that has more than 120,000 miles on it. The 2003 model was refurbished in 2016, and it will remain within the department for training purposes, the report says.

Had officials waited to move forward with a letter of intent to purchase, there would have been a 4% price increase after December 15, according to the report.
