George Strait is tipping his hat to first responders in his latest music video.
The country music legend premiered “Weight of the Badge” on Thursday (October 28), marking National First Responders Day. It focuses on first responders — police, fire and others — and their families, sharing their personal stories throughout the video.

VIDEO: New technology will change how the Springfield Fire Department completes its investigations.
It’s called Matterport, and it was donated to the fire department a little less than a year ago. The technology allows fire marshals to go back into a scene through 3D renderings and virtual reality.
Matterport consists of a camera that swivels 360 degrees, taking photos to turn into those 3D renderings of a house.

Last week, Clark County Fire District 6 won the coveted Washington Fire Commissioners Association Management Excellence Award. It’s given to the District that judges deem performed best in Operations, Logistics, Finances, Public Outreach, and more.
The judges are not in the fire service, rather they are impartial professionals from other public and private organizations.

Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One says it needs to make some changes to keep up with the growing community it serves.
Over the past decade, Gig Harbor's population has grown more than 16 percent, and during that same time Gig Harbor Fire says its call volume has increased by more than half.
To keep up with the growing demand will require a number of changes, the agency says, including renovating or replacing aging fire district stations and reconsidering firefighter health and training.

Call after call, shift after shift, over the course of her 20+ year career as an EMT, Brandy Tarala has seen trauma she cannot forget.
"Most of our problems are temporary, but these scenes, these accidents we respond to, that's permanent. It's going to last forever," Tarala said Thursday. "The things we see on a day-to-day basis are horrific.
