Summit (NJ) Firefighters Injured in Fire Apparatus Accident

Two City of Summit firefighters were injured in an accident, reports TAP Into Summit.

As firefighters were exiting their engine positioned on the side of the road, the rig was struck broadside by a second vehicle.

No other injuries were reported at the scene.

Corning (NY) Fire Department Replacing Fire Apparatus

The Corning City Fire Department now has a 2021 Pierce Enforcer to replace a 28-year-old ladder truck, reports The Leader.

The city purchased a 107-foot straight ladder truck at a final price came in at $900,000.

Fire officials and city officials worked together to settle on a purchase that met the city’s needs while keeping costs reasonable.

Prosser Woman 'Discovered' After Wreck on Highway 221

A Prosser woman is lucky to be alive after being discovered thrown from her wrecked vehicle on Highway 221 early Thursday morning. Benton County Fire District #6 reported that the accident occurred about 3 AM this morning on Highway 221, at milepost two, outside of Prosser. Officials are saying that the woman is lucky because motorists behind her saw the accident and offered assistance.

Occupied Atascocita (TX) Fire Department Ambulance Involved in Crash

The Atascocita (TX) Fire Department was on the scene of a multi-vehicle accident involving an occupied department ambulance.

The accident closed traffic in all directions, though the patient was loaded onto another ambulance and eventually made it to the hospital.

Jacksonville (FL) Fire and Rescue Department Holds Ground-Breaking Ceremony for Station 74

JFRD and City Officials Break Ground on Fire Station 63. Facility expected to open in Fall 2021.

Today, Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry, City Council Members Danny Becton and Randy White, and IAFF Local 122’s Randy Wyse joined JFRD Director/Fire Chief Keith Powers in the ground-breaking ceremony for Fire Station 63 on Gate Parkway.

Fire Station 63’s permanent facility is JFRD’s third new station project in as many years, continuing a trend of growth and strategic allocation of fire suppression and emergency medical services.

Squad 63 and Rescue 63 have been operating since the summer of 2019 at a nearby temporary facility off of Gate Parkway, which is in southeast Jacksonville. Station 63’s immediate response territory includes eastern Baymeadows, the Reedy Branch area and the St. Johns Town Center. Within that region are approximately 5,000 residences, 400 business parcels, 30-plus apartment complexes and several schools. Given the area’s projected growth, Station 63 is a timely addition to the community.
