Dennis Township (NJ) Puts Fire Apparatus in Service

The Ocean View Volunteer Fire Company recently put a new 2021 Pierce Rescue Pumper into service, reports The Press of Atlantic City.

The fire department posted to Facebook, “Ocean View Fire Company has taken delivery and placed in service a 2021 Pierce Enforcer Heavy Duty Rescue Pumper. Designated as Squad 17, the new apparatus features a 730 gallon water tank, 20 gallon foam tank, Compressed Air Foam System and a set of Hurst eDRAULIC rescue tools. This replaces a 2005 Pierce Enforcer Pumper and 2000 EVI Walk in Rescue. Squad 17 will respond from the South Seaville firehouse located on Main Street. We would like to thank the Commissioners and residents of Dennis Township Fire District No. 1 for your continued support!”

The truck also will carry hydraulic extraction equipment, which is often used to free people trapped in vehicles after serious wrecks.

LaFayette Fire and EMS (AL) Awarded Grant for Fire Apparatus

The City of LaFayette Fire and EMS was awarded a Homeland Security Department grant for a new fire truck, reports The Times-News.

In a press release from U.S. Congressman Mike Rogers (R-AL), “I congratulate the men and women of the City of LaFayette for receiving this grant and hope it will ultimately help increase the safety for all local citizens. I am pleased to see the federal government is continuing to make these types of investments in the Third District.”

LaFayette Fire and EMS was also recently awarded another grant to purchase extrication equipment.

Land Purchased for Waco (TX) Fire Station 16

Waco (TX) city council is commencing plans to construct a new fire station, Station 16, on land that it agreed to acquire during a recent session, reports virtualbx.com.

The city agreed to purchase 2.2 acres of land from LG Callan LLC for $325,000. The plan allocates a total of $375,000, with the remainder to cover closing fees, surveying, and other related expenses, the report says.

The land, at the northwest intersection of Ritchie Road and Panther Way, is adjacent to the new $4.5 million Ritchie Road Elevated Storage Tank Project. The report says that the city also reallocated $89,000 remaining from the construction of 2019’s Station 5.

The Waco office of civil engineers Walker Partners is working on the project, according to the report.

Construction on New Gwinnett County (GA) Fire Station is Underway

Construction on the long awaited new fire station for Gwinnett County is underway in Suwanee, GA, according to a report published by the Gwinnett Daily Post.

The newspaper reported the new Station 13 will be located at 105 Main St., a short distance from the old station that closed in 2019.

The $7 million station will be 11,000 square feet and have three drive-thru bays for department vehicles, the newspaper reported. It will have at least a fire engine and an ambulance and the ability house a minimum of five firefighters when completed, the paper said adding that there will also be a gear and equipment room, an industrial grade kitchen, an administrative office area and individual bunkroom cubicles with separate lockers and shower areas for males and females.

A special purpose local option sales tax collected in 2017 will be used to construct the fire station on land provided by the city, according to the paper, adding that construction is expected to be completed in 11 to 12 months.

Woman dies in Kelso RV fire

A woman died in an RV fire in Lexington early Thursday morning, according to a Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue press release. Cowlitz 2 and Cowlitz Fire District 6 crews responded to the fire at 1512 West Side Highway just after 2:30 a.m. and knocked it down in about 15 minutes, according to the press release.
