Washington Township (OH) Eyes $6.21M Fire Station 41

Washington Township (OH) wants to build a $6.21 million Fire Station 41 next year to replace the 50-year-old current facility near the Centerville historic district, reports Yahoo.

The township recently acquired for $212,072 about six acres on East Franklin Street near Centerville High School from the school district and has hired an architect for the project, according to the report. The land is part of almost 66 acres the school district bought in 2017 from Miami Valley Hospital.

In 2019, voters approved a continuous, 2.85-mill levy to fund fire services, including the new station and staff. Officials said in October 2020 the goal was to have 90 full-time staff—up from the department’s current 83 full- and 15 part-timers—by the end of 2021.

Potential layouts for the facility have been discussed with Englewood architectural firm App Architecture, officials say.

The next step is gaining Planning Commission approval for a major site plan with the hope of starting construction in 2022, the report says.
