With Mutual Aid Box Alarm System, help is one call away for Wisconsin fire departments needing backup

VIDEO: The 20th anniversary of 9/11 is now just one day away. The event changed the way crews across the country plan for and respond to emergencies, and that includes here in Wisconsin. There’s one system more than 86% of fire departments use when disaster hits in Wisconsin, the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System, or MABAS.

Fire destroys Alabama church group’s mobile kitchen during Ida recovery efforts

VIDEO: Hundreds of volunteers from across the country are in South Louisiana easing some of the burdens from Hurricane Ida. Many of these volunteers are feeding neighborhoods, but now, one group is dealing with a disaster of their own. Over the last several days, Celebration Church in Terrytown has housed a group of volunteers from Oak Park Church in Mobile, Alabama.

Schneider Springs Fire surpasses 100,000 acres

The Schneider Springs Fire has now surpassed 100,000 acres, but crews say containment has now increased to 17%. According to the Schneider Springs Fire FB page, the fire progression continued steadily along the northern edges of the fire as expected. The fire was primarily backing and flanking to the north, but did make short uphill runs through receptive fuels.

REV Group® Announces Plans to Shift KME® Production to Other REV Fire Group Facilities

MILWAUKEE, WISeptember 10, 2021 — REV Group, Inc. (NYSE: REVG), parent company of leading designers and manufacturers of best-in-class specialty vehicle brands, announces the transition of KME Fire Apparatus production to other REV Fire Group facilities over the next year, which will allow improved lead times, quality, and delivery for KME customers.

KME has long-served municipal, state, and federal markets across the U.S. with its diverse range of custom apparatus including Aerial, Industrial, Pumper, Rescue, Tanker, and Wildland products. KME is renowned for its quality engineering, custom manufacturing, and dedication to deliver on customers’ specific apparatus needs. From its Tractor-Drawn AerialCat with Steel-Safe technology to the new X-Series Custom Pumper, KME consistently innovates to provide custom configurations based on unique fire department requirements.

Orders currently in progress will be manufactured at the KME facilities in Nesquehoning, PA and Roanoke, VA, with production expected to be completed by April 2022. Orders not yet in production and new incoming orders will be transferred to other REV Fire Group manufacturing facilities. Each order will be reviewed with the respective KME dealer and end-user customers immediately following today’s announcement. In addition, KME is meeting with employees from the Nesquehoning and Roanoke facilities to discuss options and reassignments.

Cowlitz County fire departments prepare for COVID-19 vaccine mandate

Although Cowlitz County fire departments report much of their workforce is vaccinated against COVID-19 ahead of the state’s vaccine mandate deadline, leaders are concerned about how the requirement could affect the emergency response system. Gov. Jay Inslee in early August announced the requirement for most state employees, health and long-term care workers to be vaccinated by Oct.
