Mantoloking (NJ) Fire Company 1 Close to Getting New Mini Pumper

Mantoloking (NJ) Fire Company 1 and the borough officials have shown interest in purchasing a new mini pumper, reports starnewsgroup.com, following a presentation at a council meeting earlier this week.

The apparatus, a Ford model built to NFPA standards, will be much smaller than the department’s ladder truck, which is approaching its 25-year lifespan, but can pump more water, the report says.

Officials estimate its cost at about $9,000. The next council meeting is set for October 19, though it’s unclear whether the next purchasing steps will be ready to be taken by then.

How the elements haven’t done away with the 90-year-old hut must be an act of divine intervention. It looks as if one good gust of wind could send it flying off the mountain.

New York 911 dispatchers pleased with law making them ‘first responders’

Hallie Pfendler and Denyse Hastwell are 911 dispatchers in Lewis County. The two work hand in hand to get help to people who need it. “We’re considered secretaries and we do a lot more than that. We potentially save lives. We do CPR instructions. We get people there that need to be there,” said Hastwell.
