Oklahoma City (OK) Fire Department Breaks Ground on New Station

The OCFD has been relying on neighboring cities like Mustang and Yukon to help in the area.

The new station will make it easier for the OCFD to respond to calls in a timely manner. OCFD Battalion Chief Benny Fulkerson said the department wants to arrive to 70 percent of its calls within seven minutes of being dispatched.

Station 38 will feature state-of-the-art equipment; staff 21 firefighters; and have three bays for housing an engine, a brush pumper, and potentially a tanker, according to Fulkerson.

In addition to safety, Fulkerson said homeowners can anticipate a drop in insurance rates, as having a fire station closer to them will help with their insurance rate as well,” said Fulkerson.

The $3.9 million project is set to be completed by April 2022.
