500 acres burned after fish dropped on substation in Benton County

About 500 acres burned west of Paterson after a fire reportedly started by a fish landing on a substation. Fire crews responded to the area of SR 14 around milepost 157 around 10 a.m. According to Scott Hawley, with Benton County Fire District #6, the fire is believed to have been started by sparks when a fish was dropped on the substation by a bird.

17 firefighters in Michigan suffer 'heat-related injuries' after structure fire, sheriff's office says

VIDEO: Seventeen firefighters suffered heat-related injuries and were treated at the scene of a fire Tuesday afternoon at a business plaza in Monroe Township. One firefighter was hospitalized and is described as being in "stable condition," according to a press release from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

New program at one Florida university aims to protect first responders from infectious disease

Colorado fire department opens doors for 1,000 Neighborhood Gatherings Initiative

The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) will open the doors to all 24 fire stations across the city, welcoming the community to meet their neighborhood firefighters, as part of Mayor Yemi Mobolade’s 1,000 Neighborhood Gatherings Initiative. “Mental Health is an important topic in my department. I understand the heaviness mental health can bear on our community and fully support Mayor Yemi’s initiative in helping our neighbors feel less alone,” said Fire Chief Randy Royal.

One arrested, evacuations dropped for Road 20 Fire near Soap Lake

One person has been arrested, and people are being let back home after a wildfire near Soap Lake on Tuesday night. The Grant County Sheriff's Office announced that all evacuation levels were dropped at 12:30 a.m. Road 20 is now back open, and those who evacuated can reenter. The Sheriff's Office said they arrested one person for first-degree reckless burning for causing the fire, explaining that the arrest was in the first degree because someone was seriously injured from the fire and because of the amount of lost property.
