PHOTOS: Several businesses erupted in flames early Monday in an old strip mall along the main business strip in White Center, officials said.
Crews initially responded to the scene, at 16th Avenue and Roxbury Street, at around 2 a.m. after receiving reports of smoke and flames at the site. A second alarm was sounded soon afterward, and firefighters have been at the scene since then, battling the stubborn flames that are hard to reach because of the way the buildings are constructed.

Fireworks are likely to blame for a fire burning at the old Cherry Grove Church in Battle Ground, Washington on Monday, Clark-Cowlitz Fire & Rescue said.
The fire was reported early Monday morning at the church along Northeast 92nd Avenue.
Based on surveillance video from neighbors, fire investigators say someone drove up to the church and tossed "possible flaming material" at the church before speeding away.

A wildfire in Douglas County is estimated to be at least 7,900 acres and about 10% contained as of Monday evening.
The fire grew 5,400 acres over the last 24 hours.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said wind and high temperatures are causing rapid fire growth in the area near East Wenatchee.

A Pullman man in his 20’s sustained life-threatening injuries Sunday night when a fireworks tube, used to launch an aerial display that he was bracing on this thigh, exploded and damaged his leg, possibly severing an artery.
Neighbors who were watching the fireworks tried to stop the bleeding with direct pressure to his groin area along with a belt tourniquet and called Pullman Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to 21 separate fires within the City of Yakima; most of which were caused by fireworks set off during the Fourth of July.
KAPP-KVEW’s Emily Goodell spoke to Yakima Fire Department Deputy Chief DJ Goldsmith, who confirmed that homes throughout the region were threatened by fires caused by fireworks.
