Sioux Falls Fire Rescue got creative when the pandemic hit, taking their fire education program virtual.
“We weren’t allowed to get into the classrooms. So we’ve got a virtual program now. So we sit down with the kids virtually, they watch a short program and then we interact with the kids.

A 425-acre blaze a few miles east of the town of Kittitas lit up a home and some outbuildings on Sunday.
The fire started at around 1 p.m. off of Stardust Lane. The cause is still under investigation. Crews managed to contain the blaze after several hours, but not before it torched a home and some surrounding structures in the 2900 block of Clerf Road.

– State firefighters have been mobilized to help assist local firefighters contain the Lind Fire in Adams County near the town of Lind.
The fire, which started Sunday morning, is burning sage, grass, and wheat.
It is estimated at 20,000 acres and it is threatening homes, crops, and infrastructure.
Washington State Patrol says Level 1, 2, and 3 evacuations are in effect.

The last member of a long line of firefighters steps down Monday after a career that spanned two states and more than three decades.
Longview Fire Battalion Chief Troy Buzalsky is leaving happy and healthy, he said, with time to enjoy his retirement — a privilege his former firefighting brother is currently experiencing and his father never had.
