Marblehead (MA) Approves Fire Apparatus Purchase

Marblehead approved funding to raise $9.25 million to purchase a new fire truck and to finance a library renovation project, reports Wicked Local.

The Marblehead Fire Department can now purchase a new $750,000 fire truck. The new fire truck will replace Engine 1, a 2006 Pierce Pumper truck. The new fire truck is the same as Engine 2, a 2017 Enforcer Pierce Pumper truck.

The new pumper truck will feature a back-up camera, direction lights and, resting atop the apparatus, a 3.6 kilowatt generator. The truck holds 500 gallons and can pump 1,500 gallons per minute.

Liberty Township (OH) to Purchase Fire Apparatus

The Liberty Township Board of Trustees has authorized the purchase of the new fire truck, reports The Delaware Gazette.

The purchase will allow the department to have a much-needed reserve engine when another truck is taken off the line. Engine 322 has been in service for five years and will be taken offline and used as a backup when another engine requires maintenance.

Moving the current truck to a reserve capacity well before hitting 10 years is expected to extend the fire trucks use to at least 15 years.

The new truck, which will be purchased from Sutphen Corporation in Dublin, will cost $549,950. A fire official estimated less than $100,000 will need to be drawn from the fire/EMS fund to pay for the truck when all additional revenues are factored in.
