NTSB: Construction Crew Blamed For Massive 2019 3-Alarm Natural Gas Line Explosion In California

VIDEO: If you look closely, there are still scars left over from the explosion of a ruptured natural gas line in San Francisco’s Inner Richmond neighborhood more than two years ago. The blast rocked Geary Blvd. at Parker Ave. on the afternoon of Feb. 6, 2019. A two-story building on the corner – site of Hong Kong Lounge II restaurant and residences on the second floor – was extensively damaged by a giant orange fireball that sent diners running for their lives.

Smoke detectors alert occupants to fire at home in Covington

Smoke detector alarms saved the occupants of a home that erupted in flames early Wednesday in Covington, fire officials said. Crews responded to the scene, in the 26900 block of 189th Avenue in Covington, at about 2:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a fire. Firefighters say working smoke detectors alerted the occupants, who were able to escape without injury.

As extreme heat and fires plague much of the West, wildland firefighters go from fire to fire with little end in sight. In the Okanogan Valley of Washington state, firefighters from as far away as Utah and Arizona battle blazes that threaten property and lives. These frontline workers live and work under challenging conditions, and they have little access to fresh produce.

Warren (OH) Firefighters Want American Recovery Program Funds for Fire EquipmentAp

Warren firefighters want a share of the city’s $28 million federal dollars from the American Recovery Program spent on fire equipment, reports WFMJ 21.

The president of Warren Professional Fire Fighters IAFF Local 204 emailed a letter to 21 News and posted on the local’s Facebook page. The letter urges city residents and business owners to urge city leaders to use some of the ARP funds to purchase fire department apparatus.

A survey will ask participants to rank possible uses for ARP funds on a one to five basis, with one being the highest priority and five being the lowest.

The fire department’s goal is to purchase a total of three new trucks using ARP funds.
