Lynbrook (NY) Fire Department’s (LFD) Tally-Ho Engine Company 3 recently held a dedication and wet-down ceremony at the Horton Avenue station for its new 2021 Spartan truck, reports liherald.com.
The apparatus is dedicated to the memory of Tally-Ho Lieutenant Fred Shnoor, who was killed in the line of duty during a fire on May 31, 1932, and former Tally-Ho Captain Jeffrey Wiener, who as a Navy Corpsman was killed in action in Iraq on May 7, 2005.
Mayor Alan Beach and members of the village board were present along with county and town officials. Also in attendance were the chiefs of the LFD and other local fire companies.
During the ceremony, former Chief and Honorary Commissioner Thomas Ryan broke the ceremonial bottle of champagne on the front pumper. Our Lady of Peace deacon Kevin McCormick also blessed it.
