Officials: Armed man that delayed firefighters taken into custody after massive Ohio house fire

VIDEO: A man has been taken into custody after a massive fire that destroyed a house in Hamilton Township on Friday afternoon. According to the Hamilton Township fire chief, crews were dispatched to a fire and a man with a gun in the 800 block of Sunrise Ridge Court around 2 p.m. The man proceeded to have a standoff with police for around an hour before firefighters could begin to knock down the flames.

One person in custody, at least one displaced after apartment fire in Spokane

One person is in custody and at least one is displaced after an apartment fire in Spokane Saturday night. According to the Spokane Fire Department, crews responded to East 7th Avenue and South Helena Street for reports of a fire. SFD said the fire spread from the garage to the apartment complex. SFD and SPD confirmed this incident is being investigated as arson.

First female North Whatcom career firefighter Leslee Smith passes away

A firefighting trailblazer in Whatcom County has passed away. North Whatcom Fire and Rescue announced that former Lieutenant Leslee Smith passed away from cancer earlier this week. The cancer is considered work-related, as it stemmed from Smith’s exposure to hazardous materials on the job. She was the first woman to serve as a career firefighter with North Whatcom Fire, which was a position she held for 22 years before retiring in 2021.
