Waukegan (IL) Officials Hold Dedication Ceremony for New ARFF Truck

The Waukegan (IL) Fire Department, Waukegan National Airport, Waukegan Port District and Waukegan Airport tenants recently held the dedication ceremony for a new Rosenbauer Panther Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Truck (ARFF), reports DailyHerald.com.

Fire and port district officials worked together for more than a year to design the truck’s specifications, which have it at over 12 feet tall, 10 feet wide and about 40 feet long. The truck, purchased by the Waukegan National Airport and tenants, is equipped with a 3,100-gallon water tank, 420 gallons of firefighting foam and 500 pounds of dry chemical extinguishing agent.

Marion (MA) Fire Department Receives $10K Grant

The Marion (MA) Fire Department was awarded a $10,000 grant for new gear, wickedlocal.com reports, one of nearly 300 fire departments across the state to receive a grant as part of the Department of Fire Services Fiscal Year 2021 Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant Program.

The money will be used to purchase new leather firefighter boots and gloves for the department’s members.

The $4 million awarded to departments statewide is part of a $25 million bond bill filed by the Baker-Polito Administration to support firefighter health and safety over the next five years.

Evacuations in effect for homes near Auburn-area wildfire

A wildfire near Auburn continues to burn Tuesday morning, and now it's threatening several homes and prompting evacuation notices. The Green Valley fire began Sunday afternoon when gusty winds pushed a burn pile beyond control. It's since grown to 50 acres, and residents in nearby homes are now under Level 2 evacuation orders, meaning they should stay somewhere else or ready to leave at a moment's notice.

Tulsa First Responders Recall Devastation Of Oklahoma City Bombing 26 Years Later

First responders from all over Green Country were some of the first people on scene at the Oklahoma City bombing 26 years ago. "We watched it unfold and everybody is wanting to go help," said Tulsa Fire District Chief Pete Matlock. Matlock shared pictures from his time sorting through the wreckage in downtown Oklahoma City.
