VIDEO: The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) authorized federal funds for the more than 13,000 Corkscrew Fire burning in Ford, Washington. The fire is located 16.5 miles west-southwest of Deer Park. It is burning in timber, grass and brush. A total of 20 buildings were destroyed in the fire, including eight homes and 12 minor structures.

A state of emergency has been declared in Chelan County due to the Twenty-Five Mile Fire burning near Lake Chelan. It's the second time this summer an emergency due to wildfire has been issued in the county. The first was for the Red Apple Fire in July. Chelan County commissioners signed a resolution Monday declaring the disaster.

The Muckamuck Fire in Okanogan County is now the major concern for firefighters who are also battling two much larger fires just 10 miles away. The Cedar Creek and Cub Creek 2 fires are consuming much larger acreage between them, but the Mukamuck Fire is a bigger threat to a populated area. Greg Smith with the fire response team says they’re focused on protecting the town of Concunully, which is under a Level 3 (Leave Now) Evacuation notice.

With codes and categories for responses ranging from brush fires to rope rescues, the Seattle Fire Department has added new designations for the significant number of 911 calls it faces in an environment home to thousands in the city — encampments. A SFD spokesperson tells CHS the new categories including “encampment aid” and “encampment fire” are important for tracking both the number and the circumstances of the department’s responses to incidents involving homeless encampments.

A new concept for a Stoughton fire station is smaller than originally proposed, reports WickedLocal.com.

The new Stoughton Station One would have larger fire truck bays and dormitories for both male and female firefighters, who currently have to use the same facilities for showering and sleeping.

The new plan would also allow for an ambulance to be moved to Station 2. The original plan for the fire station would have required three to four acres. By splitting functions, more viable properties could be considered.

An all-inclusive fire station would have cost at least $30 million. By developing a smaller station and repurposing the current main station, the total cost is expected to cost between $18 and $24 million.
