The Menlo (IA) Fire and Rescue Department recently received a 2021 Chevy 3500HD grass truck, thanks to a couple of grants, reports raccoonvalleyradio.com.

The new apparatus has a skid unit with an ultra-high-pressure pump with a 200-gallon water capacity and a 10-gallon foam cell.

The purchase came via the Guthrie County Community Foundation, which gave an $18,620 grant, as well as a MidAmerican Energy grant.

In need of a new aerial following a March accident, the Sheldon (IA) Fire Department (SFD) has decided to lease a 2005 Pierce Dash 100-foot platform, reports kiwaradio.com.

During a recent city council meeting, and with SFD still doing its due diligence in finding a new aerial, the council opted to lease the unit.

Officials say Sheldon’s insurer will pay the cost of the lease, up to $100,000. The apparatus has been offered for a rate of $350 per day, plus a round-trip shipping charge of $14,800 from an Alabama dealer.

The council authorized negotiations with the owner for a more favorable lease rate, as well as to sign a lease agreement with the company provided the final costs don’t exceed the $100,000 for a one-year lease.

Bedford County (TN) Fire-Rescue has taken delivery of a new Sutphen custom pumper, reports t-g.com.

The pumper, which officials showed off in front of the Bedford County Courthouse during committee meetings, is assigned to Station 1 in Shelbyville—replacing a truck being moved to an almost-complete station in Rover.

The Rover station will be considered a part of the Unionville hall. Further expansions are planned as funds become available, officials say.
