VIDEO: The Navarre Beach Fire Department is asking for help on a special project. The dept. wants to build a motorized scooter for a Navarre 11-year-old to help him move across the sand on the beach. Christian has Kabuki syndrome and going to the beach is one of his favorite things to do. He loves the beach so much, Fire Chief Danny Furiegh tells Channel 3 News his family relocated to the area so he could be closer.

An 11-year-old girl rescued from a Tacoma house fire early Sunday has died from her injuries, fire officials announced.
The girl was taken to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries and died Monday morning.
The fire started early Sunday morning at a Tacoma home on East Clarkston Street near South Lane.

On Saturday afternoon, March 20, quick action by children, neighbors and San Juan Island Fire and Rescue prevented a small kitchen appliance fire from spreading or causing any injuries.
While children were playing outside of a multi-family residence, they were interrupted by a loud fire alarm from one of the apartments.

But to the Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue crew — as well as local, state and national industry leaders — there never has been a problem with Chief LaFave’s ability to care.
“His purpose in life was always, ‘How does it impact the citizens, how is whatever we’re doing making it better for the citizens?’” said retired Longview Fire Chief Phil Jurmu.
