Holden, LA – JANUARY 19, 2021 – With an industry best lead time, Ferrara Fire Apparatus Inc., a subsidiary of REV Group® and a leading manufacturer of fire apparatus, is pleased to introduce the new Invader, a complete line of ready-to-build custom pumpers that provides the mission critical performance fire departments expect and delivery in six months.

The competitively priced Invader provides customers the flexibility to choose from multiple configurations with a range of options to meet their unique operational needs.  

Primary features offered include:

  • 94” wide, extended medium aluminum cab with a 10” raised roof  
  • Cummins 380-500 hp engine
  • Allison 3000 EVS™ transmission
  • Meritor® axles
  • 3/16” extruded aluminum body
  • Roller shutter compartment doors 
  • 500 to 1,000 gallon polypropylene water tank
  • Available in top and side-mount pump control configurations
  • Hale, Waterous, or Darley 1,500 – 2,000 gpm pumps

Indiana Rig Crash Injures 1

According to a report from WSCH, one person was injured when a fire tanker rolled over in Ripley County, Indiana, Tuesday morning.

Ripley County Communications received a report the rollover crash at around 6:15 a.m. on Brownstown Road near the intersection with County Road 750 W.

Napoleon Volunteer Fire Company Firefighter Ralph Meyer was driving westbound on Brownstown Road en route to a working structure fire when he met an oncoming Millhouse (IN) Fire Department tanker truck heading in the other direction. Meyer told Ripley County Sheriff’s deputies that the lights from the oncoming tanker obscured his vision and caused him to veer off the road.

Meyer’s tanker rolled and came to a rest on its side. He was transported to Margaret Mary Health in Batesville for treatment of unknown injuries.

State Fire Marshal's Office Warns About Risks of E-Cigarette Fires

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is warning folks that using electronic cigarettes increases their chance of fire risk. Deputy State Fire Marshal Robert Wittenberg said lithium-ion batteries can fail during charging or transportation resulting in fires, and in some cases, explosions. “Keep the batteries at room temperature.

Lawsuit against Snohomish Fire District 4 settled

Ken Hopkins didn’t sue his employer to extract a big payoff or for revenge. He filed suit because he was put through the wringer after getting post-traumatic stress disorder on the job, a psychological probability for firefighters which is gaining more recognition. Snohomish Fire District 4 settled the lawsuit for $400,000 plus paid $76,500 to close out his paid leave and benefits.
