Every year, the Seattle Fire Department responds to hundreds of cooking-related fires. With more people cooking at home because of the pandemic, the concern for cooking fires is elevated. Cooking fires remain the main cause of home fires in the U.S. To help try to reduce cooking-related fires, the Seattle Fire Department, in collaboration with the King County Fire and Life Safety Association, recently developed cooking fire safety videos in 12 languages and in American Sign Language.

PHOTOS: Firefighters from multiple agencies battled flames that destroyed a home occupied by two families in Lake Stevens. Crews were initially dispatched to the home in the 500 block of 103rd Drive SE at about 7:45 a.m. Tuesday and found the structure fully ablaze. More units were then called in. Four adults and three children who reside at the home were able to get out safely, and no injuries were reported.

The fire department has been putting the finishing touches of installing radios in a new engine, reports Star Beacon.

The work toward getting the $565,000 fire truck has taken a few years and will replace a truck that is 37-years-old. The fire truck will be paid for using a $100,000 grant.

Before the truck was delivered, department representatives went to Wisconsin to make the final inspection of the engine.

The Big White Fire Department pushed-in the 78-foot long Rosenbauer Viper Aerial ladder truck, reports Penticton Herald.

The department has been planning five years for the truck. The department posted to Facebook, “This truck is one of a kind with an EZ Trac hydraulic AWD system, really handy when the Okanagan Champagne Powder gets a little deep!”

A woman is in police custody after a hit and run involving a fire truck, reports WMCAActionNews5.com.

A firefighter was attempting to make a right turn when the car sideswiped the truck. The driver left the scene but later returned to the tell the police she was responsible. Police administered a sobriety test at the scene.
