‘Ladder of Light’ sculpture unveiled on 50th anniversary of crash that killed three Illinois firefighters

A statue of a Naperville firefighter in rescue mode rushing into danger illuminates the night sky along Jefferson Street in a tiny park nestled near the bridge over the west branch of the DuPage River. “Ladder of Light” created by Naperville artist Paul Kuhn in partnership with Dark Moon Designs and Intelligent Lighting Creations was unveiled Monday just after dusk on the 50th anniversary of the day three Naperville firefighters were killed when their fire truck was struck by another vehicle.

Yakima Training Center firefighters earn Army award for partnership with Yakima fire crews

Yakima Training Center’s civilian firefighters have been honored by the Army for their assistance to the Yakima Fire Department. The fire department received the 2020 Army Community Partnership Award for its mutual-aid agreement with Yakima’s fire department, according to Heather Leiby, deputy to the garrison commander.

Spokane: Apartment Christmas tree catches fire, 9-year-old boy saves himself and sister by jumping out window

A 9-year-old boy is injured after a real Christmas tree in his family's apartment caught fire. The fire department says the fire was caused by incense which was burning too close to the family's real Christmas tree. The fire happened on Spokane's South Hill near 51st and Regal. The father of the boy tells KHQ that he ran to Walmart, leaving his wife and two kids at the apartment.
