Spokane Police, fire trucks hold drive-by birthday celebration for 4-year-old

Halloween is Jeremiah Lilly's birthday, and this year the Spokane Police helped the 4-year-old celebrate in a big way. Over a dozen Spokane Police cars, several fire trucks, tow trucks, a motorcycle club and several other citizens hosted a drive-by birthday celebration for Jeremiah on his big day, according to Spokane Police Cpl.

Lynnwood house fire displaces four residents

A fire at a Lynnwood home Saturday afternoon caused heavy damage and displaced four residents. South County Fire crews responded at 3:52 p.m. after dispatchers received multiple 911 calls reporting a house on fire at 61st Place West and 202nd Street Southwest. One man was home at the time. He was transported to the hospital by firefighters as a precaution for smoke inhalation.

Ohio: Assistant Chief Tracy Smith becomes highest-ranking woman ever at Columbus Division of Fire

Tracy L. Smith was promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief of the Columbus Division of Fire (CFD) on October 18 after 22 years of service. She is now the highest-ranking woman in the history of CFD. “It’s not significant that it’s me. It’s significant that over the years, the city has changed in the opportunities it gives all people to succeed,” Smith said.

U.S. records more than 90,000 COVID-19 cases in one day for the first time

The United States reached a daily record for coronavirus when more than 90,000 cases were reported on Thursday, according to the latest NBC News tally. More than 30 states reported more than 1,000 cases. It was the first time the U.S. has crossed 90,000 cases in one day, almost 10,000 more than the previous high of 80,662 cases, which was set just a day before on Wednesday.

Family credits Kentucky firefighter with saving newborn daughter's life after premature delivery

One week old and weighing a little more than 1 pound, Ellie Whitehall is beating all the odds in the Norton Children’s Hospital neonatal intensive care unit. From Lebanon Junction, her family credits a firefighter for not only delivering Ellie but also saving the child's life. Ellie's mother, Brianna Whitehall, thought nothing of the pain she felt at the 24-week mark of her pregnancy.
