According to the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, fire officials plan to start fires in the Naches area.
Firefighters are doing what is called prescribed burning.
“These prescribed fire projects reduce the amount of burnable fuels in the forest and help lower the risk of future high-intensity wildfires and related dense smoke,” said Forest Fire Management Officer Rob Allen.
