A new drone technology program launched Monday at Great Oaks Career Campuses, and it's the first of its kind in the world.
Through the program, first responders can become drone certified as an emergency services drone operator. “It’s opening up doors to programs beyond your traditional law enforcement and firefighter basic training academy.

Three people were injured in a boat fire on Yale Lake on Saturday, according to the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies from Clark and Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Offices responded to assist firefighters. The Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office said the boat’s driver, a 60-year-old Portland man, suffered second-degree burns on his legs and a 20-year-old passenger, a Milwaukie woman, also suffered burn injuries.

Three residents of a home that caught fire north of Millwood early Monday escaped without injury.
Spokane County Fire District 9 received reports of the fire at 8404 E. Woodland Park Drive, southwest of Argonne and Bigelow Gulch roads, at about 2:50 a.m. Monday .
When crews arrived , the fire had climbed up the backside of the home and into the attic, said Jim Walkowski, assistant fire chief.

The Wenatchee Fire Department labeled Saturday’s Travelodge fire to be undetermined but noted that the outdoor area which caught fire is frequented by smokers.
The burned area outside of the hotel was next to a “fence” of Arborvitae, all of which can easily catch fire, Chelan County Fire District 1 spokeswoman Kay McKellar said.
