Emergency responders who help stranded drivers on the side of the road are struck and killed nearly four times more than reported. A new study by the AAA Foundation for Safety reveals a disturbing picture of the dangers of helping stranded drivers. Skagit County Fire District 15 has recently shared a new challenge they are facing as a fire department. In a recent letter, Fire District 15 shared with the community that fire engine unit 1511's recent safety inspection revealed that it has met "out of service" criteria. "1511 has been an aging truck for a long time, and recently it has decomposed into a state that we didn't think it was repairable," said Fire Chief of Skagit County Fire District 15, Stuart Kranick.

One person was killed and another was seriously injured in a crash near Seattle-Tacoma International Airport Sunday morning. Puget Sound Fire (PSF) first tweeted about the deadly crash on the 17300 block of International Boulevard just after 11:15 a.m. Sunday. The Pullman City Fire Department welcomed its new deputy fire marshal after hiring him on Jan. 29. Deputy Fire Marshal Adam Hoffman was previously employed by the City of Pullman as a building inspector. He will join the fire department team and focus primarily on fire prevention within the community.
